Find a Summer Camp in Connecticut!

Choosing the right summer camp can be one of the most rewarding decisions you make for your child. A great camp experience not only fills their days with fun and adventure, but also helps them grow in confidence, independence, and new skills. With so many options available, it's important to find a camp that matches your child’s interests, needs, and personality. Whether you're looking for a traditional day camp, a specialized program, or an overnight adventure, asking the right questions can help you find a camp where your child will thrive and create memories that last a lifetime.

Questions to Ask Yourself When Selecting a Summer Camp:

  • What are my child’s interests and passions?

  • What type of camp experience would suit them best (day camp, overnight camp, specialty camp, etc.)?

  • What goals do I have for my child’s summer (learning new skills, making friends, gaining independence)?

  • What camp activities would my child enjoy most?

  • How far from home am I comfortable with the camp being?

  • What is the camp’s philosophy and approach to child development?

  • What are the camp’s safety and health protocols?

  • What is the staff-to-camper ratio and what qualifications do the counselors have?

  • How does the camp handle homesickness and new camper adjustment?

  • What are the costs involved and what does the tuition include?

  • Is there an opportunity to tour the camp or meet the staff before enrolling?

  • What do reviews or testimonials from other families say about the camp?

  • How does the camp communicate with parents during the session?

ABOUT US >

Your Summer Camp Connection!

The CCA is a non-profit organization that promotes good camping practices and works closely with the CT Office of Early Childhood (OEC) and the American Camp Association (ACA).  These camps are licensed by the OEC and inspected during the camp season every summer.  Many of the camps have also chosen to become accredited by the American Camp Association, which requires meeting hundreds of standards and is voluntary.

One of the main purposes of the CCA is to further the interests and welfare of children and adults through camping as an educational and recreational experience.
