Description: GROTON -- Project Oceanology’s mission is to nurture interest and enthusiasm for science and our planet's marine environment. Guided by professional marine scientists campers will conduct experiments in marine biology, oceanography, and ecology aboard our Enviro-lab research vessels, on the shore, and in our laboratories. Weeklong day and residential camps available. Come explore coastal habitats while making new friends at the summer camp experience of a lifetime! Day Camp - Ocean Explorer Academy (9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday) A weeklong day camp for campers who have completed grades 4-6. Campers will explore Long Island Sound's rocky shores, marshes and beaches. Students discover roles these habitats play in our coastal ecosystems using scientific instruments aboard our research vessels and fleet of skiffs. Residential Camp - Ocean Camp (4 p.m. Sunday - 3 p.m. Friday) A weeklong residential camps for campers who have completed grades 5-12. Campers will explore Long Island Sound for 5 days and 5 nights from ship to shore. Our waterfront hostel will be your home base for a great summer adventure aboard our two research vessels and fleet of skiffs. Ocean Camp sessions are divided by grade based on the grade the camper will complete in June 2016. Grades 5-6: Coastal Habitat Study Grades 7-8: Nearshore Habitat Study Grades 9-12: Offshore Habitat Study
